CM vs Psionics

As a chaote, you might hear about a lot of weird concepts you probably wouldn't understand right away.

This brings us to the 4 main paradigms: the Spirit model, the Energy model, the Psychological model and the Information model. The 5th model is basically a mixture of some of them, a hybrid model called the Meta model.

Each model symbolizes a prevalent superstition, practice, or field of study intimately linked to the functioning of magic within their specific environments. The original guide by Frater U.D., the creator of this analytical framework, serves to elucidate the origins of these models, enabling one to differentiate among them. The model system may appear somewhat unfinished; however, fundamentally: the spirit model pertains to the belief in a higher power, the energy model to the manipulation of life force, the psychological model to altered states of consciousness, subconscious programming, sigilization, and so forth, while the information model relates to the actualization of intentions.

Psionics is an umbrella term for psychic abilities— or at least that's what it used to be. The Psionics community has mostly rejected the "Psychic agenda", which was infiltrated by cold readings and staged acts, and created their own naming system for abilities. Many eastern concepts have been excluded in modern practice by psions, though if mentioned it is kept within the context of the origin. Kundalini especially. You wouldn't want to be doing that with a method that's not Hindu of origin. Certain aspects of eastern philosophy are just westernized and used instead of them to avoid appropriation, such as spiritual energy and tulpamancy.

The definition most applicable to modern Psionics at this point is the practice, study, or psychic ability of using the mind to induce paranormal phenomena.

Described using the models of CM, Psionics would predominantly be occupied by the information model method-wise, subtly using the spirit model and energy model to bring forth results. The psychological model is used occasionally for training requisite aspects of the mind needed to develop new abilities.

The preternatural's blend-in with "normalcy"

Imagine every person you know started their day off with a personalized version of the LBRP ritual and went to coven meetings ? The unrealized normality of "magic" is often underrated and overlooked. When my mind starts wandering into the theory of magical practice, I do think it definitely doesn't seem as everyday as most things, but could definitely be at further inspection. The general symbolism and near-superstition we attach to the mundane everyday routine is what, I assume, contributes to our reassurance that whatever we've done is done right the first time. Note that dictionary definitions for mundane such as "banal" or "unimaginative" could suggest boringness, but I'm sure most people would agree that an unimaginative get-together is still something that could be enjoyed if conversation– which I also consider quotidian – is satisfactory. Hence 'being satisfied' and the sense of enjoyment could still be present alongside our eve...

My Not-So-Secret Hobby

Photo by luis gomes You might or might not know this, but I started learning to code in 2021. A dear friend taught me the basics of Python, but it was essentially up to me to decide if I was going to further my self-education of this coding language. At the time he taught me about variables, loops, lists and dictionaries in 3 days. Even though it was a lot to take in, it was something I really wanted to learn, which made it easier for me to absorb. I was hooked, until I realized I didn't have enough knowledge to build basically anything, which led me to try and learn from freecodecamp. It didn't work for me, honestly. The lessons were "interactive" in a sense, but weren't split into episodes or chapters which would've made it easier to keep track of where I left off the previous session. I tried other sources on YT to no avail. Udemy was next. This one helped me immensely to build both skill and confidence in my ability to code. Though I'm still building ...

My anime obsession

Anime has been a huge part of my life since 2013, when I watched Naruto and Sword Art Online. They were definitely some of the more popular ones at the time, with Naruto being part of the "Big 3". The other 2 constituents of the big 3 are One Piece and Bleach. Dragon Ball is one of the older anime, having been aired quite a few years before either of these previously mentioned anime— so you could say it's the elder or ancestor to these anime. These days, the anime that I indulge myself in are mostly isekai. Isekai anime usually have these main characters that were normal people in their past life who get transported to a new world with "swords and magic". Reverse isekai like Re:Creators also exist though, which is the opposite. Sword Art Online was my first isekai, but I wasn't aware of the genre at the time. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime *or TenSura for short* was the anime that made me fall in love with the genre. This was later solidified by oth...
