Knowing how to imbue your intent into objects is a common skill learnt accidentally by most witches. It's the first step towards finding the magickal method that works best for you, as it's a key component to strengthening your magickal workings. The most important things enchanting produces are: sigilization, blessed water, protective charms, spell jars, spell candles and any other form of sympathetic magick.

Austin Osman Spare, the father of Chaos Magic, used a method of manifestation where he drew pictures of what he wanted to happen over and over again. They started to work the more he drew them. The image itself becomes charged the more it gets drawn— within flow state. Gnosis is important for "charging" items, which requires flow state if you cannot use any other gnostic states. But if you're not artsy and can't access creative flow, then this method is going to be a little hard.

The acquisition of naturally magical objects are rather interesting. When I would find a small interesting object as a child, I'd used to imagine it being enchanted, or in a way, it was meant to find me like it chose me. This is true if the belief could be of use to you. The feeling of "being chosen" is the feeling associated with the item, which is the primary connection made to it. Entertaining this idea further, by talking to the item and imagining it responding on a whim will bring it to life. This is the more natural process of creating magical items.

The above method might be hard to do if you can't convince yourself that you are talking to an actual entity. An easier method of enchanting is to use a chant or incantation. Keep on repeating what you want the object to do. You will reach a point where it feels like you're able to 'communicate' with the object. Keep on repeating it. You might experience hallucinations, pulputation or eye fluttering. If not, don't fret. It takes practice.

To do the harder enchantments, you'll have to know how to "connect" intent, creating some sort of chronological story, then ultimately, imbue them into the object. The easiest method of sympathetic magick that uses this type of enchanting is Poppets. Inside the poppet you'll add some herbs and something that ties the poppet to the person. This can be anything, from their blood to sand from a footprint they left in the ground. The link in this case is very specific: To have everything done to the doll, happen to the user, or something along those lines. Links, as I mentioned in the Connections post, are a form of thoughtforms used to connect things. Later in your practice, you'll be creating them without even realizing it.
